Foxy’s Tamarind Bar & Restaurant
Named after the man himself, Foxy’s Tamarind Bar & Restaurant is the home of the man who put Jost Van Dyke on the map, Mr. Foxy Callwood. This warm hearted, jolly old fellow can be found sitting in front of the bar strumming his guitar and entertaining guests with stories and jokes.
About the bar
The bar opens at 9:30 in the morning and the kitchen opens just before noon. Banana Daiquiris are a yummy way to start the morning but drink slowly, because the kitchen doesn’t open for another two hours. Specialty drinks include the Sly Fox and the Dread Fox. Foxy also has a microbrewery on Jost Van Dyke so the draft beer is cold, fresh, and always on hand.
We can’t forget the eats!
Truly unforgettable are Fridays and Saturdays. Foxy reserves these two days for firing up the “Grillzebo” in preparation for Foxy’s Caribbean BBQ – chicken, ribs, and melt-in-your-mouth Mahi-Mahi.
Lunch starts at 11:30 and goes ’til 3:00. The menu obviously includes beer-battered grouper sandwich, conch fritters, and if seafood isn’t your preference, ask about the Chicken Roti.
Main Courses start after 3:00pm. Lobster is $5.00 per ounce when available, “Tamarind” Barbecue Creole-rubbed baby back ribs, and the daily catch “Fresh off Foxy’s boat.” Finally, leave room for Chocolate Almond or Cay Lime Pie. All in all, you will not leave hungry!
