Swim with the Turtles in Turtle Cove

Turtle Cove is nestled near the Ritz Carlton Resort on St. Thomas. Grab a mask and swim with graceful sea turtles. Swim quietly, breathe gently, and try to kick without splashing. A sea turtle just might hang out for a while.

Please do not touch, our doe-eyed sea turtles are federally endangered species.

Types of Sea Turtles in Turtle Cove

• Leatherback
• Green Turtle
• Hawksbill

Green turtles love the sea grass beds while the Hawksbill turtles cruise around the reefs. The Leatherback turtles are the largest and rarest. Weighing between 600-800 pounds, they are on the verge of extinction and rarely seen.

A Sea Turtle’s Diet

Depending on the species, they eat shrimp, seaweed, crabs, jellyfish, snails, sponges, algae and mollusks.

Captain’s Note:

We love our flippered friends and they will mistaken plastic bags for jellyfish. If you see any trash in the water, let us know and we will grab it. Most of all, conservation efforts from all of us will help get them off the critically-endangered species list someday.
