Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands

Jost Van Dyke, British Virgin Islands

Jost Van Dyke, also known as JVD or Jost, was allegedly named after a Dutch pirate, however, there is no factual evidence supporting this colorful folklore. This little piece of paradise’s namesake remains a mystery today. What we do know is that Jost has world famous beach bars and laid back personality. With less than 300 inhabitants, it is the smallest of the four main British Virgin Islands and actually one of the busiest ports in the BVIs.

Jost is one of Kenny Chesney’s favorite escapes when he is island hopping in the British Virgin Islands.

Beach Bars on Jost Van Dyke

It is home to many beach bars including, Soggy Dollar Bar, Foxy’s, Sydney’s Peace and Love, Ivan’s, One Love and many more.

Things to Do

Stroll the beaches or lounge in the crystal clear waters with a drink in hand. Jost is a true getaway while offering a great beach bar atmosphere for the party goer. Those wanting more quite time can work their way down the beach to an empty hammock and get their beauty rest.

What to Eat and Drink

The Soggy Dollar Bar has an excellent Chicken Roti and the Pain Killers are strong and cheap. Ask for an “American pour” if the island drinks are too much to handle. Rum is cheap on the island.

A ten minute cruise to Sandy Spit is a great addition to this excursion.
